Would You Rather: Toppings, Pizza vs. Burger Eick October 30, 2007 Would You Rather? 4 Comments When I first started this blog, my Would You Rather? questions were a hot attraction and reader favorite. Sadly, somewhere along the line I got too focused on keeping up with the “food news” and forgot that those questions are essential for what this blog is all about: facilitating off-beat and unique thoughts and discussions about food. So after a layoff since September 12th, I am back with a new Would You Rather? I would also like to ask my readers to weigh in. Would you like to see more of them? Or just have them sporadically like they have been so far? Also, I was thinking of doing a Would You Rather? WEEK. A new question, each day, Monday thru Friday. Is that something people would be interested in? If it is, I will do it next week. Anyways, here is today’s question: Would You Rather? Option #1: You can never have any toppings on your pizza again (besides cheese). Option #2: You can never have any toppings on a burger again (besides cheese). For burgers this would mean no lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, fried onions or mushrooms. It also includes any meat you might add to a burger, like bacon. However, this also means that if you choose to keep the burger toppings, you could be consigned to a life of eating just cheese pizza with no toppings. I’d definitely be interested in a week long thing! Keep it up! Reply Hillary October 31st, 2007 Believe it or not…I’m a total Plain Jane and only top my burgers with ketchup (I assume that doesn’t count as a topping?) I’m also fine eating cheese pizza but I do enjoy other kinds like mushroom and pepperoni, so I could go without the burger toppings all the way! Also, go for it with bringing back the “Woudl you rathers”. Reply Youppi November 2nd, 2007 Eick, here are other things to consider: a) Hillary brings up a good point. Ketchup is still allowed, right? I mean, we’re not talking a white pizza here, there is still tomato sauce, and tomato sauce to pizza is like ketchup to a burger, no? b) this question poll is slightly misleading. Think about all the vegetarians who could care less about burger toppings, because they don’t eat burgers, unless you count veggie/turkey burgers, so I guess that could still work. c) as we’ve discussed, I live in NY, where good pizza is abundant. Now in other areas where you might not find a decent plain slice, you need those toppings, so I guess it’s easy for me to choose burger toppings. d) can you imagine five guys sans onions, lettuce and jalapenos? I think not. p.s., there are now 2 five guys in the NY area! Reply Raiders757 March 29th, 2009 Doesn’t matter to me. A truly great burger doesn’t need any toppings other than maybe some cheese. Likewise, pizza can be ruined with too many toppings as well. A truely great pizza should be good with nothing more than cheese on it. Thing is, I can’t live without pepperoni pizza.
