Both they and Menu Pages Philadelphia were speculating about using leftover latkes as “bread” for a creative sandwich, and shared with their readers the version sold at Junior’s, which Serious Eats dubbed, the “Jewish Monte Cristo.” Look good? Then take your heart medicine, because you know this one can’t be good for you. Interestingly, my lunch yesterday was actually a “Gentile Monte Cristo”, or as us non-Jews refer to it, a Monte Cristo.
