Dr. Pepper Delivers on Chinese Democracy? Eick April 14, 2008 Marketing, Soft Drinks A little over two weeks ago, So Good wrote about Dr. Pepper’s challenge to Axl Rose: finally release Chinese Democracy, and we’ll give a free can of Dr. Pepper to everyone in America. Shockingly, there are now several reports that Chinese Democracy has been completed by Axl and has finally been sent to his record label. Grub Street is speculating that if these reports are accurate, Ketchum, creators of the promotion, may need to get Cadbury Schweppes to start calculating the cost of giving away so much free soda. With the sudden reports that the album may now be ready for production, one has to suspect that the public pressure put on Axl by Dr. Pepper played a big role in his decision to quickly finish the album.
