Hyper-Sexual Orangina Ad Features Animal Orgy, Lap Dances and an Orangina Money Shot Eick August 25, 2008 Bizarre, Interesting, Marketing, Soft Drinks 22 Comments Gyrating deer in bikinis, bears getting lapdances, and, according to The Independent, “Shots of Orangina bottles exploding between the thighs of zebras and squirting on to the breasts of other animals.” (Photo via Ad Freak) These are all scenes from a 60-second Orangina ad that has been airing the last few weeks in Britain and drawing numerous complaints: Equal rights groups are unhappy with the way in which female animals are depicted as lap dancers, gyrating around and pandering to the male animals. Not to be left out, children’s groups are complaining that: The almost sinister portrayal of animals in an animation style filled with sexual innuendo leads to very mixed and confused messages The ad campaign actually began in France last November, and was accompanied by a print campaign with sexualized images of animals enjoying Orangina (see image above). However, the campaign is generating lots of controversy now that the TV ads are running in the United Kingdom. The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) has already received more than 140 complaints, and is reviewing the ad to see if it meets the standards of “good taste and deceny.” It’s a 60-second ad airing in the U.K., but you can see the full 1 minute and 45 second version below: A lot more explicit than you thought it would be, huh? Reply Gilahi August 26th, 2008 It’s certainly an eye-catching commercial, but of all the reactions I had to it, “gotta have me some Orangina” wasn’t one of them. Reply Mary August 26th, 2008 The scary thing is that some ad compnay charged them a million dollars to come up with that idea…and someone paid it! Reply OohLaLa! August 26th, 2008 Wow! Those French folks sure get turned on by orange soda….when I used to drop a dime in the vending machine for an Orange Crush, I never contemplated anything quite like that…um, yeah….nope, never saw orange soda that way before….I may never see orange soda the same way again….wow…the atmosphere of the ad seems more like Rio de Janeiro, or Carnivale, the ideas that I have picked up about such things on tele or whatever… it’s lush, and exciting to watch, but yeah, a bit much to put up in front of the kiddies, if I had any around here I think I would have to cover their little eyes or change the channel…..gotta agree with Gilahi, I’m not quite sure what they’re selling here…. One thing that does bother me in this ad is the beginning scene, before the party breaks loose….an element of danger there as the bear comes upon a doe out there by herself, there is a sinister element there in the interaction between male and female, before everybody else shows up and starts to party….. Reply Patrick August 27th, 2008 this is one of the most bizarre commercials I’ve ever seen. Interestingly I was watching a funniest commercials in the world show or something like that last night – hosted by Kevin Nealon. weird. Reply Editz August 27th, 2008 Damn furries… Reply Joshiwa August 28th, 2008 Although what I have to say may offend some people out there I must say this seems to be getting way too much attention. Unfortunately, that is the case with any sexually charged material. I’m the father of four very young children and don’t find it necessary to shelter them from advertisements such as this. Granted, if the characters where completely nude or exhibiting obvious pornographic shots then I would steer my kids clear. The overall message I’m trying to convey here is that making sex or any other material considered taboo is exactly what makes it so desirable. Reply Anonymous September 25th, 2008 I gotta get me an Orangina! “mixed messages”, eh? If kids see this and they know what exactly they’re looking for then chances are they’ve been exposed to things a lot worse than this on their own. Last time I was in London, I turned on the television at 11 PM and they were running a marathon of the top 100 porno films (not pay per view, not cable, regular antenna broadcast television) this got me thinking, “ok parents are getting irate over a commercial that isn’t even all that concerning (get real, if you’re reading this in the comfort of your home your kids probably have Internet access as well and god only knows what you can find on the net these days.) their kids can just stay up a couple of hours after their bedtime and see real women in hardcore sexual situations. Reply Anonymous September 25th, 2008 p.s.- As an anthropomorphic artist, even I find the renditions of these characters to be a little creepy. The idea is most likely to promote a new look to there product. That is AN EXPLOSION OF WILD TASTE. they are trying to say, lets get back to nature and all. That is it. The only thing wrong with this Advertisment is wussies complaining about it. Also it is the summer people, during summer women and men dress half naked, and it is the summer thing to do. Eitherway the westerners is the creators of the furry and just goes to show that from the country where romance is best know for, people would obviously complain. Again the wussies needs to wake up and realize that these complaints just proves how zooaphile they cultures are. No really wake up morons. Also the previous advertisment. was just boring and unforgivenly dull. Dull dull dull, to think something like that will ever come out of design. It looks worst then the advertisments cave people draw.
