Dr. Pepper & Crush Dessert Topper Eick January 4, 2011 Desserts 17 Comments I was surprised to discover at the grocery store that these products exist. You can now purchase them online: Orange Crush Topper and Dr. Pepper Cherry Topper First off, yes, these are kind of knock-offs of Magic Shells, although it looks like these are just syrup and don’t harden. Now I love Dr. Pepper, it’s my favorite soda. But the thought of Dr. Pepper syrup on ice cream just doesn’t work and I think we can all agree on that. So it’s interesting that Dr. Pepper would still try and attach its name to this product, which is essentially just a cherry syrup. I’m a little torn on the Orange Crush one. Have you ever had an orange flavored syrup on ice cream? I haven’t. But I do know that I love creamsicles and creamsicle flavored sodas…so there’s that. What do you think? Gross? Delicious? Anyone tried either of these? Reply Isabella January 6th, 2011 Gross, for me but I know there someone out the that will really enjoy this toppings. Reply Maggy January 7th, 2011 I haven’t tried them, but I have looked at them longingly. I agree with Caitlin that the Orange Crush could be good in a milk shake. I think there is also root beer flavored. Reply Lisa Messick February 19th, 2011 Just bought the orange crush one… going to try it tonight! Reply Dave Utterback March 4th, 2012 We just bought the Orange and I’m sorry unless you like chewing on OLD orange rinds and some sort of chemical you will NOT want this. I recommend a recall immediately. Reply Mary P. July 25th, 2012 I absolutely agree with Dave. Not only does it taste like chemicals, it also has an almost gummy texture in your teeth when you eat it, like candy that’s gotten soft from heat. I have a whole bottle and am trying to figure out what to do with it. ๐ Reply Jason S August 14th, 2012 Call poison control center immediately ๐ That orange crush tastes like cyanide..seriously, very, very bad stuff there..just purchased a bottle at Mennards..how did this stuff make it out on the shelves? Reply Joshua December 8th, 2012 I think orange ice cream would be good I think root beer ice cream might be good but not Dr pepper Reply Barbara A April 13th, 2013 The Crush topping makes AWESOME orange cream fudge….not so good on ice cream Reply Susan B May 8th, 2013 Happy to hear you read your comment on the fudge as I read all the discouraging comments before that. I just received my 6-pack of the Crush topping as that was the only way I come find it. Opened a bottle and took a little taste. I was sure that I had swallowed a dose of poison! Even with the very tiny taste I had, it took peanut butter crackers to get the horrible aftertaste out. But since I purchased it for the cream fudge and after your comment, I am hopeful that it will turn out good anyway…I definitely will not try it on ice cream ๐ Reply Vickie May 10th, 2013 Where can I buy the Crush Orange Ice Cream Topping? I have looked in a couple of stores and have not had any luck? Thanks! Reply Susan B May 15th, 2013 Vickie, I found it on Amazon.com. Reply mike May 29th, 2013 The orange , used sparingly, is great. Makes vanilla ice cream into a creamcycle. The rootbeer is good but didn’t excite me. I am not a Dr Pepper fan so I won’t offer an opinion. Reply Diane July 30th, 2013 Can you buy these syrups in Canada & where? I want to make the orange dreamsicle fudge. Reply Pam August 9th, 2013 If I can find the Dr Pepper syrup, I plan to use it to make Dr Pepper ice cream! And if it just tastes like cherries, I will use it anyway! Hope it doesn’t taste like ordinary chemicals … Reply pat church November 12th, 2013 Where can I purchase this product.
