It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for another Eating Styles poll! This week, it’s all about donuts.

When I was a kid, I spent a lot of Sunday morning church services thinking about what kind of donut to get on the family trip to the bakery afterward. There are a lot of donut style choices out there – plain, frosted, sprinkled, filled – and you’ve gotta choose wisely, or end up stuck with a chunk of fried dough you don’t even really want. That’s why it’s useful to have a favorite as a fallback. These are some of the main types of donut styles:

(NOTE: these are donut styles, not shapes. That’s for next week)

Glazed

Sprinkles

Cinnamon/Sugar

Powdered

Filled (Jelly, Custard, Frosting)

These donut styles are not mutually exclusive; they can be combined and blended to create many new types of donuts. For example, you could have a creme-filled, glazed donut with sprinkles. If you had to choose one, though, what would be your favorite? Vote below and explain your choice/flavor preference (Chocolate glaze? Rainbow sprinkles? Strawberry jelly?) in the comments.

This doesn’t take into consideration that most donuts fall into two classes…yeast (or raised) donuts, versus cake donuts.

Mmmmmmmm…Doughnuts! Custard filled, with an exhorbitant amount of gooey frosting on top, so rich that if you dont swallow coffee between bites, your eyes roll back in your head and you pass out.

What about the people who like to dip plain cake donuts into their coffee? I mean, that’s not my favorite style, but I do that sometimes.

I voted glazed, but I also like Sprinkles and powdered.

I have never liked filled doughnuts and extra sugar/cinnamon don’t appeal to me.
