Coors Tests Iced Tea Beer on Canadian Guinea Pigs Andy March 8, 2012 Beer, Booze, News 2 Comments Molson Coors intends to make lime flavored beer passe in 2012 by introducing a brand extension that taps into a beloved Summer time beverage. The first run of Coors Light Iced T will only be available in Canada initially but should its reception be met with brisk sales, a similar roll out will occur in the States. Whether that’s a threat or not remains to be seen, at least until reviews begin pouring in. The citrus-like, iced tea-flavored beer will have roughly 4% alcohol content but no caffeine (No Four Loko here kids!) While beer sales in Canada remain relatively flat, is Molson Coors banking on this to be the great light beer hope for the States? This is a market that has seen a continuous sales decline in this category over the last three years. Coors Light Iced T makes it debut in the Great White North on April 1st. From the slick ad mock ups & press releases, we’ll see if this brand turns out to be a joke or not. Considering I see people buy Marshmallow flavored Vodka & Maple infused craft beer, I don’t think there’s any room for us to judge quite yet. And for those of you jealous of this WTF flavor release happening only in Canada, Michelob Ultra 19th Hole Light Tea and Lemonade hits stores this April in the U.S. of A.
