Eating Styles: Doritos Flavor Edition! Sam August 6, 2012 Eating Styles, Snacks 15 Comments It’s Monday again, which means it’s time for another installment of Eating Styles. The other day, I was at the grocery store buying chips and I found myself staring up at a wall of Doritos firmly divided into two solid-color camps: red and blue. It got me thinking about how Doritos has accomplish what few brands ever manage to do: establish two flavors with relatively equal market pull. Because they are so difficult to choose between, many customers end up purchasing both Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch, ensuring Doritos a permanent place in the chip market. But what if you had to pick one? If you were forced to choose between that wall of red and blue, which side would you opt for? Or would you go for one of the more obscure flavors, such as Late Night Taco or Spicy Sweet Chili? Vote for your favorite option below, and explain in the comments. I would pick that over Nacho any day. Reply Anthony Kiedis August 6th, 2012 What do you call the Doritos flavor chips that aren’t yours? NA’CHO CHEESE. Reply Susurra August 6th, 2012 Salsa Verde – @ Peggasus they’re still available on the west coast (sadly, I don’t live there anymore) and they are absolutely the best Doritos ever. I was in California earlier this year and brought 3 bags back with me. Reply Shannon August 6th, 2012 Red is preferable only when talking about Doritos. Reply Geena Stepp August 6th, 2012 cool ranch… but lately i have been going back to nacho cheese because i eat cool ranch too much Reply Austinian August 6th, 2012 I’m suprised that red is doing so well. Reply Mandi August 6th, 2012 You forgot about SPICY SWEET CHILI. They’re just too good to be true. Reply Ryan August 6th, 2012 Darker red, Spicy Nacho Reply Not-So-Famous Dave August 6th, 2012 My vote is for the flavor that has the least powdered fake flavor..Cool Ranch. Give me a plain, salted, stone ground tortilla chip and I’ll dip it for flavor! Reply Elise August 6th, 2012 Am I the only person who liked the late night cheeseburger doritos? God I destroyed those. Reply Sam August 6th, 2012 Mandi! I totally mentioned Spicy Sweet Chili in there. I did that for you. Reply Cynthia August 7th, 2012 many good flavors, including the hard to find TACO, but I’m kind of surprised that the vote is so close. Reply Travis August 7th, 2012 Cool Ranch for this guy here… However I do find myself having a hard time picking between them and Taco. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Sour Cream & Onion chips they recently had in limited release, though I preferred them in their original incarnation Sonic Sour Cream from about 10 years ago. The Midnight series was OK, tacos took the cake and cheeseburger just tasted too much like ketchup. Anyone out there ever tried their Plain Tortilla flavor?
