Eating Styles: Bread Edition! Sam August 13, 2012 Eating Styles 9 Comments It’s Monday, which means it’s time for another Eating Styles poll. Today we’re wondering, do you eat the ends of your bread loaf? Some people hate the crusty, thinner ends of their bread. Some people love them. Actually, I shouldn’t say that because I don’t know anyone who loves them. Let’s say some people tolerate them. So who are you? Are you willing to subject yourself to those flimsy end pieces, or do you avoid them and hope someone else in your house eats them (or if you live alone, end up throwing them away)? Are you a bread-end eater or a bread-end avoider? Vote for your favorite option below and explain in the comments. Reply Mark August 13th, 2012 I voted yes, I will eat them so they don’t’ go to waste, though it is not my preference. Somehow my kids have picked up on that fact and wont eat them. Reply Mary Stepp August 13th, 2012 The ends are the best part of the loaf, especially European heavier breads. Reply Smokin' August 14th, 2012 I stick them in my ears at night to block out the sounds of my kids to get some sleep. Reply Not-So-Famous Dave August 14th, 2012 I love the “heel”. So does my wife. The difference between us is that she will eat the heel first thing out of a new loaf whereas I dont eat it until the whole loaf is gone…the two heels provide some additional protection from drying out the regular slices as you work your way through the loaf. ….wait…….this is “Hints from Heloise” , right? Reply Joy August 14th, 2012 I like them toasted! Reply Marie August 14th, 2012 I am with Joy! Toasted is delicious! Reply Geena Stepp August 22nd, 2012 i agree with dad. they keep the moisture in the bread. I never eat them with a piece of regular bread, only with the other heel Reply Anthony Kiedis August 24th, 2012 Oh HECK yes.
