Would You Rather? McDonalds vs. Taco Bell Eick October 24, 2012 Would You Rather? 8 Comments Would You Rather Wednesdays continue! What if you were forced out of your usual eating routine and suddenly a fast food chain had to be a much more regular part of your life? Some of our readers may eat fast food almost every day. Some none at all. But what if you were forced to make it a part of your week? Every week. For the rest of your life? Option #1: Eat at/from McDonald’s 5 times a week. Yes, you can eat from the McDonald’s Secret Menu if you should choose to as well. Option #2: Eat at/from Taco Bell 5 times a week. You can order whatever you want off their menus as long as the amount of food you’re getting could reasonably be considered enough to be a meal. Thinking about the health impact? Maybe you favor McDonald’s so you can get smoothies and salads. Or maybe you favor Taco Bell for more interesting taco salads and their new, more upscale ingredient cantina bowls. Either way, both chains will give you plenty of variety – the question is, which could you tolerate/enjoy/survive eating 5 times a week? Please share in the comments why you answered the way you did. Breakfast made it a pretty easy choice. Reply Peter October 25th, 2012 The answer is obvious: McDonald’s. So much more variety. Breakfast as Mark points out, various burgers, various chicken products, and more. Also way more drink options as you said (coffee, frappes, smoothies, milkshakes, etc.). Reply Peggasus October 25th, 2012 I didn’t vote because I don’t eat at either place (not to mention there is not a Taco Bell in my town), but survive? Have you not seen ‘Supersized?’ Reply Adam October 26th, 2012 Taco Bell has breakfast now. Reply Confucius Jackson October 27th, 2012 McDonald’s easily. Sausage products and apple pies. Taco Bell has become a very poor value over the last 24 months. Reply Steve October 31st, 2012 I’m Steve, and I have a McD & Taco Bell addiction. I seem to have been doing this for MONTHS. I eat McD one day, and then the next day I have Taco Bell, and then the next day I go back to McD, a,d this has been ongoing. Maybe throw in a few 6″ subs from subway, makes me feel like I did better. Then I just fall back into my McD/TB rotation. It’s bad….I gained a few pounds. I’m not fat, but I have a gut. It sucks. Reply TJ November 1st, 2012 If I was a little younger I’d probably pick Taco Bell, especially now that they have breakfast. I don’t think my stomach could handle that as well anymore though. I know they have some reasonable stuff with the Fresco menu, but it’s still too rich unless I only get chicken tacos or something, which would be too boring. As others have said, McDonald’s has a lot of variety, and I could rotate some lighter items in pretty easily. Reply Hayley January 20th, 2014 Definitely Taco Bell because their choices are much healthier and easy on your stomach, except for the meat. I’m reading some of the comments and I see that people are saying McDonalds has more variety, but Taco Bell also has a large menu that you can order from- there really isn’t a huge difference. Also, they use real vegetables and fruit and don’t mash up chicken bones and beaks into their so-called “chicken nuggets”. Also, Taco Bell is a whole lot cheaper! Taco Bell> McDonalds.
