Behold, pizza lovers and get ready, pizza cake could become a reality. Your next birthday party may look like this. Pizza cake could easily replace sliced bread as the best invention ever.
Canadian pizza chain Boston Pizza has created pizza cake, a multiple-layered meaty mutant cake as a part of new campaign called “Pizza Game Changers” Customers are invited to vote on which new items they would like to see on the restaurant’s summer menu. At the time of this writing, Pizza Cake is winning. By a lot. It’s beating “pizza mints”, in second place with 2701 votes, and is far more popular than inventions such as the pizza beardkin , pizza cheese clippers or pizza car freshener. I totally get it why pizza cake is winning. It’s a pizza and a cake! What’s not to like? Except maybe calories?
But as always different people have different opinions on pizza cake. The haters use words like fatpocalypse, end of civilization, horror… The others are excited and can’t wait to try it.
I decided to give it a try and create my one version of pizza cake, from scratch. If you want, you can do it too.
First you make dough. Simply regular pizza dough will do fine.
Roll the dough out into a 1/5 inch thick layer
Cut out 6 rounds 6 1/3 inches (16 cm) each in diameter.
Preheat oven to 400 F and bake the layers in batches for 15 minutes .
Let them cool a little bit.
Line bottom and sides of pot with baking paper.Roll the rest of dough out into a 1/5 inch thick layer and cover the sides of the pot but not the bottom.
Place one layer on the bottom of the pot
Add tomato sauce.
Lay cheese on dough next add pepperoni slices.
Place next layer of dough. If necessary fill cracks with dough.
Repeat, until you have all the layers complete.
Remove the excess dough.
Tuck in the edges
Bake in preheated oven at 400F for 25 minutes.
Remove it from the oven. Let it cool in the pot for 5 minutes then carefully remove. Enjoy!
For me, there is nothing wrong with pizza cake. You’ve got to have fun with pizza. And about calories?
Well, cut yourself a slice, eat it slowly, enjoy it without gilt and don’t forget to exercise.
I don’t know how is going to look final version of pizza cake from Boston pizza. But Mel Brooks said about sex and pizza, “even when it’s bad, it’s good”, I think their pizza cake can’t be a flop. So ,don’t be haters, give pizza cake a chance.

Holy cow! YIKES – my husband would marry me all over again with this “cake”. You make this look so easy!
Oh, look yummy, but looks like it is impossible for me to make it, but might give it a try!
How do you remove the finished cake from the pot?
Very, very carefully
If you line your pot with parchment paper, the cake will slide out easy.
Looks unreal but totally doable! Love this idea!
It’s just a Meat Pie but with too many layers of dough. It would be much better if they left out most of the extra dough . Just a top crust on the pie. More layers of fillings. Check out Aussie and English Meat pies.
Then it would be a pie not a cake. A pizza is already a pie
I was wondering if there was need to spray any Pam on the parchment paper?
Where do I find the pot? I have looked everywhere! If I can’t find the exact size what would be a substitute?
Thank you,my son really wants this for his birthday!
This looks like the insert or crock from a small size crockpot. I have a small crockpot and it looks like this. It would be oven safe and the sides are tall etc. Good luck!
This is amazing…it looks gorgeous and what a novel idea…I am also skeptical about demoulding but will for sure give it a try. Totally loved it.
I’d use a small springform cheesecake pan.
Hey!
I was just wondering, can I use microwave instead of oven?
If you use parchment you should measure the parchment in the pan, grease the pan and stick the parchment to the sides and bottom. The pizza cake looks fun and I plan on making it for someone’s birthday soon, very cute idea!
Rather than cut off the extra, why not roll more fillings into it around the top edge like a stuffed crust? It would give it a decorative finish. Could be brushed with egg and sprinkled with coarse salt.
It was a NIGHTMARE getting the dough on the sides of the pot. Ended up just leaving that off and building layers, which was delicious, but not as pretty. It is fairly easy to wiggle out of pan with parchment paper, but, I made two, and one I used no stick aluminum foil to line the pot and it came out like a dream.
I have 5 kids so this would take alot of time for me but i love the idea. Is it possible that i could do this with store bought pizzas and fill in the gaps .if so what size crust pizza do u think would be good because i think thin crust might be too hard. Would love to do this for my husband and his friends.
can this pizza pie be made with store bought ultra thin pizza crust?
I made this Pizza Cake for my daughter’s Birthday & it turned out Fabulous!
