Kentucky Grilled Chicken Eick April 17, 2009 Chicken 43 Comments Despite the fact that chicken was just defeated by bacon in the Meat Madness tournament, KFC has nevertheless decided to move ahead with their plans to release grilled chicken. Starting on Monday, Kentucky Grilled Chicken will be available nationwide. That chicken looks pretty good. But you know what would make it better? If it was grilled, THEN fried. Mmmmm….fried, grilled chicken. I guess it’s a good to have a “healthier” option but honestly, who in their right mind will go to KFC to get some grilled chicken? Reply BS April 17th, 2009 This is just stupid. I hate it when fast food places try to release healthier options. The problem with fast food is not that it’s unhealthy; it’s that people need to stop eating it everyday. I would only go to KFC on the occassional day that I feel like indulging in some fried deliciousness with absolutely no regard to how I am treating my poor, poor body…If I am feeling even a tinge of guilt or health-conciousness, I wouldn’t go anywhere near a KFC – what I am certainly not going to do is go to KFC and order the “healthier” option, which probably has 80 grams of fat per serving instead of 100 Reply Nate April 17th, 2009 Will they be giving away free samples on Monday? I’ll be there! Reply plushpuppy April 18th, 2009 Actually the released a baked chicken in the 90’s that didn’t do so well but it was delicious. Reply Lauren April 18th, 2009 omg fried grilled chicken sounds amazing Reply Bear Silber April 18th, 2009 Really all it does is allow the slobs (my brothers :P) to talk the healthier people in their group (me) into maybe, possibly going to the KFC…this actually occurred last week and I must say that the A&W diet rootbeer was amazing….I think I may just head over there now…. Reply gobblegobble April 18th, 2009 BS is truly BSing…80 gms fat vs 100…what crap is that? Even the EC (extra crispy) KFC chicken breast has 490 calories and 30 some grams of fat. compare this with KGC (kentucky grilled chicken) which has only 9 grams of fat and 180 calories. only concern about KFC this time is not the calorie content, but the ingredients…they still add MSG in huge quantities, not to mention other preservatives, etc. But I am glad KFC finally introduced a low calorie option, so weight watchers, fitness guys who want to ‘indulge’ on Saturdays can finally get a healthier option. Reply Miles April 19th, 2009 My girlfriend had this Kentucky Grilled Chicken outside Chicago this Friday….I guess before the rest of KFC’s introduction of this product. She liked it, but wished she got the Fried instead. Reply Colonel Sanders April 20th, 2009 I’m glad you all like my new KFG. I can assure you that my secret recipe doesn’t have MSG in it. Reply kgc fanatic April 20th, 2009 the breast, leg and wing all only have 4 gms of fat, and each have just 1 gm of saturated fat. (and a breast w/o the skin has just 2 gms of fat total). they started selling it last week actually and i LOVE it!! especially the wing… i never was in to the wings, but something about it is just so tasty! and yes, i believe they’re giving out free samples on the 27th. Reply LilPreacherGurl April 20th, 2009 ABSOLUTULEY A TERRIFIC IDEA! THANK GOD FOR HEALTH CONSCIOUS PEPLE! Reply LilPreacherGurl April 20th, 2009 LOL! PEOPLE Reply Dusty Pulver April 20th, 2009 Grilled Chicken is even better if you wrap BACON round it to give it some flavour! Reply Nick April 22nd, 2009 KFC of KGC missed the point Kentucky Grilled Chicken is suppposed to be just grilled NOT DEEP FRIED IN THAT UNHEALTY OIL…BTW just had the Kentucky Grilled Chicken for lunch and would have too say extremely disappointed that the chicken is still greasy as the breaded version and still gave me an upset stomach. I’m sticking to El Pollo Loco!! Truly Healthier and not decieving that KFC marketing campaign brings! Reply Alan April 23rd, 2009 I look foreward to trying the grilled chicken. It sounds great providing they don’t get to greedy with the price. And keep the product they have available already. Reply Lin April 24th, 2009 Nick, I have had this grilled chicken three times now and it is NOT greasy, not even a little bit!!! I don’t believe that you got an upset stomach from this chicken…there is nothing in it to give anyone an upset stomach! It is absolutely wonderful . I agree with the poster who usually doesn’t like wings, but liked the KC grilled chicken wing they ate. I don’t care for chicken wings usually either, but I like them the way KFC makes them. This chicken is so good it makes a person practically drool over the flavor! I am telling anyone who has not had it, don’t listen to the complainers. Go get some and decide for yourself. The price is great too, and no, I do not work for KFC. If the chicken was greasy, or not very good, I would say so. It is BETTER than El Pollo Loco which Nick also mentioned and which I also like. Given a choice between the two, I will go get the KFC grilled chicken…hands down…every time I want great chicken!! Reply Rafael Gonzalez April 24th, 2009 Thank god, finally fast food that i can get and also be healthy!! i miss being fat boy but i finally realized that i need to get back in shape lost 50 pounds in a year. Reply Michael April 26th, 2009 A+++ for KFC’s grilled chicken. It was moist, yummy, and I’m going back for a free piece on Monday. How did you find it greasy? The chicken is roasted in an oven. Why would it be just as greasy as fried chicken? I disagree with you. Maybe its just your local KFC that sucks? I’ve been to great KFC’s and I’ve been to bad KFC’s. They vary just like any other restaurants depending on who is running them. Reply Belly Up April 26th, 2009 It’s about time KFC introduced something new. Ever since the nation went on this O sat-fat kick, everything from potato chips to deep fried catfish lost a substantial amount of flavor and KFC wasn’t exempt from this. It became pretty mediocre by comparison. Face it, saturated fat IS flavor and without it, taste falls flat. If anything, it started me cooking more at home (I suppose that’s a good thing). But I do miss the original flavor of KFC and I suppose their grilled chicken would be rather tasty. But what’s with using this Aussie (?) as a pitchman? At least use someone from the deep south to try and make it seem authentic. I reckon everything is gonna go down under now thanks to Geiko Reply LIZ April 26th, 2009 This was such a wonderful idea. The chicken is delicious. My husband and I LOVE it. I don’t eat fried foods, this is a really great option for me when we are out. It’s much better and cheaper than Boston Market. Reply yomama April 26th, 2009 i’m definitely going to get my free sample. i wanna try it, but it doesn’t sound like its worth buying. Reply Jean Luc April 26th, 2009 Why would have have someone from the deep south to pitch grilled/roasted chicken? That’s like having an eskimo pitch sunscreen. LOL I can’t wait to try this stuff out……… going in tomorrow for a free piece. Reply Jesse April 26th, 2009 Can you say McArch Deluxe? Reply San Ramon, CA April 27th, 2009 We tried it today and I have to say ours was definitely fried. It may have grill marks but it was just as greasy as regular fried chicken. I went through two wet paper towels on three pieces. Maybe they need to send instructional videos to the KFC’s so they know how to cook it. Reply Rach April 28th, 2009 My KFC grilled was just as greasy as the fried. The grease was dripping off it. It was tasty but I’ve had an upset stomach for two days since I ate it. Ugh. Reply I Like Watermelon April 30th, 2009 If you don’t like their fried or grilled chicken then you must naturally blame the chicken for their poor performance in life and laugh at them for they were systematically killed for naught… Reply Dale Howarth April 30th, 2009 We in Canada need this! And on a separate note, KFC needs to bring back their buttermilk bread! Reply Jimbo May 1st, 2009 I had their grilled chicken last week. It sucked. Reply Christina Self May 4th, 2009 I just had a piece of Kentucky Grilled Breast and it was Delicious!!! SO GOOD!! Reply Just Me May 4th, 2009 I just had some. It was great! It’s not about lowering the calories or fat….or changing up the spices……MSG smemesgee It’s all about going Low Carb! Reply Jess May 4th, 2009 Had to go and check what the fuss was about. Absolutely LOVED it! I have never been a KFC fan, but I’ve changed now! Reply Amy Va May 6th, 2009 Ok im going today if you go online to UnthinKFC.com they have coupons for a free 2 piece grilled chicken meal w 2 sides and a biscuit..Im getting it for lunch will update later and I am a big fried fan so we will see Reply TPOP1 May 6th, 2009 MSG Info…..Who’s correct…Cornel Sanders on this site or the KFC.com ingredients web Site ***** MSG in marinade and in seasoning!!! I enjoyed them for a while, eating them occasionally, but the latest meal I had tonight gave me an upset stomach. I’m not sure what’s in that grilled chicken, but I’ve had enough. From now on, it’s fruits and vegetables for me. Reply CM September 15th, 2009 Okay, i haven’t yet tried the chicken, but i did read this, and Colonel Sanders, I’m pretty sure it’s KGC… Not KFG.
